Brain Trust: Content + Information Architecture for Departments/Offices/Centers
This Brain Trust convened on Tuesday, February 27, at 2:00 pm EST

Departments, Offices and Centers are often not the top-level pages focused on in a website redesign or evolution project, and are typically addressed in-house after launch. At this Brain Trust, you’ll get to talk to Kelly O’Foran Frederick, OHO’s Associate Creative Director on the UX team, as well as Mike Powers, Content Strategist, about best practices for content and information architecture for these sites. We’ll discuss strategy, governance, sitemaps, navigation, and more.
As a UX and Visual Designer, Kelly's work often spans multiple phases of projects. She loves tackling large, complex projects to create beautiful experiences. She has been with OHO for 6 years, and has lead the user experience and/or design phases for numerous clients in higher-ed, tourism and healthcare. When she's not downloading more Figma plugins, Kelly volunteers as a soccer coach enjoys running, knitting and video games.

Mike has more than two decades of experience in higher education. A former English professor, he's since worked as a writer, a front-end web developer, a digital and content strategist, and a social media strategist, among other roles. He's also an award-winning speaker. Mike is excited to be using his experience to help OHO clients solve their content puzzles. Outside of work, Mike is an avid traveller, a musician, and an aspiring cyclist.
Why is website governance so important?
If smart organizations use their websites to support their business goals, consider digital governance an investment in successfully achieving those goals, defining the necessary accountability, process, support, and standards to keep your site fresh and focused.
